Blog #4 Creativity Rocks

Blog #4 Creativity Rocks!
On April 17th, the 2013 classes 7/8G, 7C, and 7B went to the Neilson Art Centre once again to participate in the final segment of the program, Creativity Rocks. We practiced for weeks for this event on the theme on Human Rights. First we were told the theme and then we had to write a spoken word about it. Then we got assigned our roles in the poem. We either got to be a speaker or an actor. In the end I chose to be a speaker. After that, we were assigned our group members and the human right to present. We then made the actions for the actors to practise. Finally, we started to practise with the other classes until we were prepared for the actual event.
At the Neilson Art Center, we started to practise until we were prepared. Then, the speakers got a pep talk from Andrea Thompson, an amazing poet. She even gave us some advice about writing poetry and making a group with others. Everybody then got some pizza before we had to present. Finally, we performed our human rights poetry with perfection. Osten and Ina then spoke in the microphone about the whole program and then Andrea Thompson presented a spoken word poem, in which in my opinion, it was really good. Then, we started to chat with the parents /guests there and take pictures until it was time to leave. Overall, I enjoyed the whole Creativity Rocks process and I hope that next year, other classes from North Kipling will get the chance to enjoy the Neilson Art Center.          –Geno (Baseer)
