We
were introduced to a new program called “Creativity Rocks” which was a very fun
and interesting experience. We made poems relating to social rights and then
combined them all into one big presentation. Each group was given a section of
the poem and were split into the actors and the readers. As one of the readers,
I was required to read aloud a poem with my partner, to match the movements of
the actors. All of the groups got together, and we put it into one big
masterpiece!
At
the actual performance night, we arrived in a school bus, not knowing what
would go wrong and what would be right. We put down our bags and went to the
gallery to have a run through of the presentation. The readers were given a
microphone, and we did the same as we did at school practices, and got used to
the space. After a break of pizza, juice, water and cookies, we went inside to
perform.
After
the presentation, we got on the bus and went back to school. On the bus back
home, we played cards and talked about the performance, and laughed at our
flaws. In my opinion, it was very well done and overall, I think the audience
enjoyed it. One thing that would have benefited us would be more practice. If
we were at the Neilson Creative Arts Centre a week or so before the
presentation, we would have had more time to practice on the actual stage.
